Story shared by visitors

This brick is dedicated to the memory of my aunt Florence Watts who lived at 11, Montague Street Sunderland. During the 1950s the deafening sound of the famous Roker Roar would resonate throughout the house.... " You always know when Sunderland have scored ", she'd remark. I was 10 years old at the time and i asked my father if we could go to Roker Park to watch a match. He did, on Boxing day that year. Although we lost the match 6-1 to Newcastle of all people 😕 the memory of hearing that Roker Roar in my aunt's parlour somehow made me realise that all things excellent in football always took place at Roker Park on a Saturday afternoon. From that day to this I'm red and white through and through.
